Ghan Shyam Joshi

Ghan Shyam Joshi is a doctoral student, Frederick N. Andrews Fellow, and research assistant in the Department of Mathematics Education at Purdue University. His research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence, mathematics, and professional development, with particular attention to how emerging AI tools can support teachers’ professional learning in mathematical content knowledge (CK) and pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). His work examines the design and use of AI-driven systems in professional development contexts, exploring how such technologies can enhance teachers’ pedagogical decision-making, content understanding, and classroom implementation by identifying instructional blind spots. He is also committed to advancing the accessible, ethical, and responsible use of artificial intelligence in education, with attention to issues such as equity, fairness, transparency, and inclusivity. More broadly, he is interested in leveraging innovative technologies to improve mathematics education and inform educational practice and policy in the era of AI.
