Get involved Students
GRAIL provides students with a range of opportunities to deepen their expertise in AI
governance and related fields, from formal academic credentials to research affiliations
and professional programs.
Mentorship, collaboration, and community are the heart of what we do, and our
undergraduate and graduate students take on major roles as leaders.
What you would work on Questions that GRAIL addresses
- 01 What are the social and ethical implications of algorithms used in domains such as criminal justice, education, manufacturing, healthcare, and finance?
- 02 How do policymakers at the federal, state, and local levels understand AI, its benefits and risks, and policy solutions?
- 03 How are government, industry, and civil society governing AI? What role do members of the public, including vulnerable and underrepresented groups, have in these processes?
- 04 How does use of automated decision systems in government impact factors like service quality, interactions with citizens, perceived legitimacy, and citizen trust?
- 05 How do emerging technologies and digital communication between citizens and government impact features of democratic governance such as responsiveness, representation, and procedural justice?
